The Narrative

The power of the narrative is everywhere. Each time I pick up a newspaper or magazine I see more about it -- storytelling as an artform and as a way to break through clutter is here. I'm reading an older book by Annie Dillard, who opens by quoting yet another author, Evan S. Connell, Jr, who I've not read but maybe should. Here is what he says:

"The legend of the Traveler appears in every civilization, perpetually assuming new forms, afflictions, powers, and symbols. Through every age he walks in utter solitude toward penance and redemption."

"I have agreed to paint a narrative on the city walls.
I have been at work many years,
There is so much to be told"

Indeed. There are so many stories to tell. Good stuff.
