Both, maybe. Could be something is up w/ Om. I say could be, because he has not confirmed it on his blog. Now, Valleywag is speculating like crazy, but let’s remember that “facts” and “Valleywag” don’t always go together all that well, as seen by the “where the heck does Jon Schwartz live” posts/corrections/reposts. Steve Rubel has some ideas on what Om ought to be doing and shares them, of course. There is a broader point worth noting – the line, formerly so bright, between blogger and journalist is getting dull. And, this is a good thing. Blogs have brought back a sharp edge to the MSM, who are competing like crazy. The MSM is in the process of bringing some rigor (to the best) of the blogs, the ones who do some fact checking, make some phone calls, esp. when they are breaking news. And, it’s worth noting that it is okay to aspire to be a great communicator, regardless of delivery method. It has nothing to do with leveraging a great brand, and everything about having a point of view, communicating clearly, creating fresh (not mash up) content.
