Podcasting

Interesting discussion going on about podcasting. As always, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. People who have long(ish) commutes, esp. in a car, I think will really embrace podcasts as they become more discoverable. But Peter is also right – they are massively inefficient compared to reading. I think there is a software solution out there that allows people to speed up voice recording w/o changing the tone – that is one answer, because the ear can process words faster than the mouth can deliver them. And Robert, go ahead and read you r smartphone when you are walking around, but not when you are driving please!

The music world has solved the speed up / slow down dilemma - sometimes well, and sometimes not! Slowing down is great for learning that tough guitar part - but only if you can learn it in the same key in which it was written. Audio editing software (the good ones, anyway) will do this for you. DigiTech and Tascam have tools for guitar players, and The Gong Project (http://www.cs.ust.hk/gong/features_speed.html) says it will do this for you!
