Living with No Visible Technology

Chris Anderson describes in detail how to hide technology. I generally agree with his (actually his wife's) premise that tech should be hidden as much as possible. In a new house, I can safely say I'm struggling in this department, with laptops in the kitchen, computers in the family room and TV and DVR on full display sitting atop a dresser. Sigh.

Amidst this post about tech, Chris makes a larger point -- both scarcity and abundance create huge opportunity for innovation and progress. Too often, we focus on one or the other as key drivers -- but in tandem, wow.

It is great to clear the mind and remove technology from your field of vision, I think. I often wonder if my creativity would be enhanced with less of it around. So much of it comforts me into passive contentment.
