Dave Winer has another good post up, this time about journalism and new journalism. He's on my turf now! What next, do I have to start coding? :) Seriously, it's worth a read. I totally agree with him that I'm surprised the MSM is going down without a fight -- I've been saying for a while they need to get off their knees, remember what brought them to where they are, embrace it, evolve quickly and move on!
I don't agree w/ Dave's solution for reformed j-school. Yes, it needs to be reformed, but I don't think that's a solution. The cold hard fact is that writing clearly is hard and is not something that will be learned in a few courses, and if you can't write clearly, you can't communicate broadly.
Embrace and extend though? Totally on. It's the way progress happens.
We need more great sources of information in the world...this is the birthright for the media, at its best. Don't lose the vision!
