In a relatively brief interview with David Kirkpatrick at Fortune, Jon made a couple of interesting points.
1. Jon is pretty well known as a blogger -- he had a great answer to a question about being CEO and blogging. He said on a good day he reaches 60,000 viewers via his blog, more than he'd reach via any keynote. He said, "I see the principle role of leadership is communication, both internally and externally." Great answer about the impact of blogging. Kudos to him for keeping it up.
2. He also noted that Sun's growth was at least partially tied to the fact that Java runs on billions of phones and the contribution that Sun has made to open source. I'm not sure giving away software is a good biz model, but maybe Jon is on to something...
