Yes, Fake Steve was at Microsoft today, finally come to pay tribute. In his mild-mannered (cough cough) alter ego as Dan Lyons, those in the audience discovered:
- Dan is easily as funny as Fake Steve.
- There were those in the free software movement who remain convinced that the entire FSJ phenomenon was a plot hatched in Redmond, unmasked only in the end by the intrepid Brad Stone.
- That yours truly is absolutely his favorite PR person, and that any linkage between this post and the aforementioned outing was purely coincidence, and that even if it wasn't, no hard feelings.
It was a very funny presentation, and only could've been made better by a discussion of Bike Helmet Girl....
