The juxtaposition of these two stories is amazing, and the fact that I've not seen anything in the media that just makes the same point is beyond the pale. What do you think?
Here: a NPR story about an AT&T Wiretap Whistleblower Fighting a Senate Deal that would retroactively provide immunity to AT&T and others who broke the law by wiretapping US citizens at the illegal request of the NSA.
And here: the Senate Foreign Affairs chair "lashes out" at the Yahoo CEO for doing something very similar in China, at the request of the Chinese government.
As my Pa used to say, sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. But I guess in DC geography matters a lot, so while it is okay for the US government to require telecom companies to spy on their customers and turn the data over in the name of national security, it's not okay for other governments to do the same thing...
