Mining Gold - the media version

Pretty interesting look at What Rick Sherlund does for fun, courtesy of video via the Wall Street Journal. First, it's a fun story about an industry icon, a way of showing a fully three dimensional view of a key character on Wall Street. Second, the clip fully demonstrates the merged world the media is living in -- video playing from the WSJ home page, reported on by a print reporter (Rob Guth), with higher quality than I've seen from some similar efforts.

From a changing communications standpoint, this is the direction everyone is heading -- the ability to tell a 360 degree story, encompassing great storytelling in video, print, blog forms, all showing degrees of the same thing in a way that allows for a greater whole. This is why I'm still bullish on the future of the media- - they are evolving in real time, and there really is gold out there.

Nice.
