The Evolution of PR

At the bulldog media conference earlier this week, I participated in a brief panel discussion on the future of PR, using this slide deck as a guide. In a lot of ways, I've been talking to this central point for about six years from now -- as we look at the future of communications, are we seeing a revolution or an evolution?

I come down on the side of rapid evolution, and remain pretty bullish. I find slides to be only partially helpful sans talktrack, but here you go.

Frank,

I think you're right, we're talking about an evolution.

If you take a historical context for things related to the media it's rare to see revolution, instead we see evolution.

TV didn't kill radio, which didn't kill print... instead they evolved and consumers changed their media consumption mix.

Many of the glitterati will react to that analogy and (correctly) point out that what we're seeing is a more fundamental shift, and I'm inclined to agree.  But print, radio and TV will be with us (and be influential) for a long time to come.

Cheers

Tom
